Music and kids go together

by June Beezy

Should we keep our kids away from music or is music something that is good for everybody? This age old question is one of those questions that only the kids can answer, but as adults, we kind of have an idea. Even the ancient gurus such as Plato and other Greek writers suggested that music is something that is part of the human soul. Plus studies have shown that the right type of music can increase concentration.

If you study history and the role music has played in each culture, it’s phenomenal. Although critics say that music is just a pastime, I think it is a very big part of our development especially in the early stages as a kid. Music helps you understand emotion and emotion is power that can be transmuted through physical actions.

Believe it or not, kids get into listening to music from the womb. They can hear and process certain things at that stage and music is one of them. Than as their brains develop, the get more into music and it teaches them how to reach different levels of their emotions. Music is an amazing thing and if you think kids don’t understand it, you are wrong.

It’s always the people that are closest to your kids like family and friends where they get their original music input from. Think about it, when that kid finally comes out, he or she is surrounded by most likely you (The parents) and other relatives. What ever you put in that kid’s brain, that is what the kid is going to know.

Kids are like a white drawing board, you can help them paint any picture they want. So is music a good thing in your kid’s life? If the kid likes it – than do whatever you can to help them. Some kids might not be so interested in music and that is okay, they have other gifts. Never try to force your kid to do something they don’t like because it’s just not going to work out.
