Flatten the Globe with International Conference Calls

by Ray Lam

When you are in business, you realize that keeping the lines of communication open are critical. When you conduct your business worldwide, it is even more important. Your business relies on sales people, clients, and colleagues, and if that are scattered all over the world, holding weekly meetings can be difficult.

One major difficulty that employees can experience is the time differential between the countries. Depending on which company the international conference calls are going to be received and sent from, someone may have to be up an off-shift to be sure that the meeting goes off without problem or delay.

With international conference calling, you can provide training to new employees that reside in different countries just as efficiently as if they were right in front of you. The world today offers new and innovation methods of conducting business. Conference calling has been around for years. But with the Internet came global trade, making it necessary for business and website owners to make themselves available virtually twenty-four hours a day.

Another difficulty that is unique to international conference calls is the language barrier. While it would be nice for all customers and venders to speak the language of the business they attend to, that is always the case. If the customer or vender does not speak the language of the people at the business, then a translator will need to be present at the meeting.

There are many companies that offer the services of international conference calling and you will need to do some research as to the type of service that best fits your needs. Just like phone companies, there are different rates available and different options to choose from, but the fact remains that there is a plan made for you and your company. International conference calling has opened up a whole new world for marketing and selling products.

Etiquette and customs can be a worrisome part of international conference calls as well. For example, there can be customs indicating who speaks first and in what order the people are introduced. While it is generally accepted that the ignorance of a custom is forgivable, there should be an attempt to learn the customs and mannerisms of the people on the other end of the line.
