Furthering Education Using A Distance Learning School
Education using a distance learning school is available to all. Many thousands of courses can be studied from many different levels, from school to professional to degree or vocational. Courses can be on every course imaginable, from business studies to IT to beauty and fitness. A qualification can be awarded or a course can just be for fun.
A qualification can be won when studying with a distance learning school or enrolling on a course can just be for personal satisfaction. Of course, there is also the hugely satisfying feeling of passing a course and being presented with a certificate and there could be a work promotion earned from home studies.
Learning can be at the individuals own pace and is as flexible as the student wants it to be. A few hours of study may be enough for someone with young children. Twenty hours or more may be studied by someone who wants to better his career, or someone may take up distance learning full time to fast track his or her education and enhance his or her career.
Distance learning can use many different media types. The most modern courses send out all their details online and are completely paperless. There may be courses that use CD’s, DVD’s or books as their learning media.
Distance studying could not be easier. Enrol on a course of interest. Learning schedules will be sent, either electronically or by post. A tutor will be assigned to the student with his or her details. Studying begins.
No two courses are the same. They can vary in many different ways. A course can last a year, or more, or they may only be for a few weeks. Sometimes courses have written projects to complete, often followed by an exam or assessment at the end or during the study period. Students are usually openly asked to discuss course issues in open forums amongst themselves.
One such distant learning school is the Open University, started in the Great Britain over 40 years ago. Their philosophy was that everyone should be able to further their education and that learning should not be for the privileged few. The Open University now allows students from many parts of the world to study and qualify for qualifications such as diplomas, art and science degrees, even master’s degrees and beyond.
