The Glyconutrient Story - An Important Discovery

Are you aware that a deficiency in certain sugars could be causing you to be ill? That can’t be true, you say. We all know that too much sugar is bad for us. However, scientists discovered, quite recently, a family of ‘nutritional’ sugars that are found in plants. These sugars play an important part in the functioning of our immune systems, boost kidney function and help prevent disease.

Scientists know that there is a direct link between disease and diet. The human body, an amazing machine, can heal itself of disease if it is given the proper nutrition as fuel. If, however, there is a lack of appropriate nutrition in the diet, the body is left defenseless and susceptible to disease.

Do I Need Nutritional Supplements?

Friday, February 15th, 2008
by Welldec

Most people think they don’t need to take supplements. We can get all we need from our food, they say. Perhaps that used to be the case. Certainly, our ancestors didn’t need nutritional supplements - the food they mostly consumed was fresh, unprocessed, and therefore rich in vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients.

The majority of our foods now are processed, and even when we do consume fresh fruits and vegetables, the same nutrient content that was evident just 50 years ago is not always evident today. Soils have become depleted through constant farming and toxic fertilizers and insecticides are used all too frequently. In many cases fruit is harvested before it has reached its full nutritional value. It is picked before it has fully ripened and is sometimes gassed to ripen and then held in cold storage for many months.

Being aware of the nutritional value of the foods we eat is obviously essential to a healthy body. Eating the right combination of carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats works towards keeping muscles strong and organs functioning the way nature intended.

The brain requires good nutrition to stay in peak condition which means if we eat well and health and our brain and memory can stay on the ball. In some cases previously foggy memories can be restored with the right nutrition. It should be easy to understand if we provide our body with the good nutrition it needs, our memory will stay sharp also.
