Making Fantastic Coffee
I’m sure that you’ve had good coffee and bad coffee and maybe you haven’t even had a good cup of coffee because you are so used to the bad stuff you do not know the difference. Let’s just say that when you finally have that good cup of coffee, you will be amazed.
Many people who are wanting to make a great cup of coffee first look at the blend and brand of coffe that they are going to make. This may be a good thing to look at but more importantly the first thing that you should consider is the water that you are going to brew with. Clean fresh water, sometimes even bottled, makes all the difference. After all, coffee is made from mostly of water.
If you do not want to use bottled water, there are excellent water filters available now that will make the water absolutely perfect for brewing coffee. The main thing is that you want to have water free of any minerals, impurities and other things that would affect the taste. Also, the fresher the water is, the better.
The coffee machine that you decide on should be as clean as possible. Any old coffee grounds and other things from prior uses will harm the taste. A dirty coffee maker will make a dirty coffee.
The next thing to look at is the coffee itself. Always choose the best quality that you can afford in whole beans and store them in an air tight container or bag.
Using the whole bean and grinding it yourself is better because the oils in the beans are released just before brewing. Preground coffees have had a chance to stay in its ground state and the oils tend to dry up. If you must use pre-ground, which is certainly more convenient, make sure it is stored in an airtight container as well. Whole coffee beans will also stay fresh longer if they are stored properly. Never ever store coffee in a fridge or freezer.
When grinding the coffee, only grind the amount you need for that time. Always ensure that you keep your coffee grinder clean as well.
Different types of coffee machines perform best with the specific types of grinds that they need. Make sure to read any instructions on coffee makers that you use and adhere to what they say. This will make a huge difference in the success of your brew.
