Understanding The 2012 Mayan Prophecies
Most people have heard about stories pertaining to events that may or may not happen on December 21st 2012. These tales and predictions have their roots in the Mayan calendar but there are only a few people who completely understand what the 2012 Mayan prophecies are actually about.
The Mayan people were very advanced for their age. They had a complex understanding of the solar system as well as astronomy in general. They knew that all celestial bodies have cycles and that these cycles and calendars can affect the human psyche and consciousness.
One of their greatest observations was that our Sun aligns itself with the centre of the galaxy at intervals of 6, 000 years. They suggested that the results of this alignment can cause the sun to have massive solar events including flares and a change in its magnetic field. This cosmic event would in turn create massive physical changes here on Earth.
In their prophecies they talk about “the time of no time”. This is a twenty year period proceeding up to the end of the long count calendar on December 21 2012. They suggested that in this time solar winds would become more intense and visible from Earth allowing man to understand his place in the cosmos to a much deeper level. Contrary to popular belief the Mayan prophecies do not suggest the end of the world as coming; instead they state that it is simply the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.
This new era that is approaching is referred to as the Golden Age. It is in this time that human civilization changes from the current simplistic materialistic society to one that has a much greater level of enlightenment. The prophecies state that this is only one of many such steps in human evolution, each of which progresses the human psyche and mind.
This new civilization will be the most advanced that has ever existed and will be full of great compassion and harmonious living.
