BMX - I Believe I Can Fly

Monday, November 17th, 2008
by Bassannio Madox

When I was a kid I always wanted a BMX. I asked for one of these two wheeled wonders for every Christmas and every birthday. Unfortunately my family wasn’t particularly well off and I had to settle for a pre owned, black, re painted 5 gear racing bicycle.

Please dont think I was ungrateful because that old black bike practically became my best friend and I loved it but I still looked on in awe at all the other BMX bikes. I did however at that point believe that if I had a BMX that I would be able to fly over the house and garden with it! I had E.T. to thank for that fallacy! Much jumping over houses on BMX bikes in videogames wasnt really the same thing.

Skateboard Tricks

by Chad Dastre

A skateboarding trick, or simply a trick is a maneuver performed on a skateboard generally while moving. Learning and perfecting new tricks is the main goal of many skateboarders, and most of a skateboarders time is spent learning these tricks.

The very first tricks that were invented in the early days of skateboarding form the basis of freestyle skateboarding as we know it today. These early tricks generally involved balancing on a skateboard on either one or two wheels, on the edges, or on the nose or tail of the skateboard. While in this position the board would be flipped or moved around.

by Steven Milstone

Skydiving! If the very word gives you a shiver of dread, you are hardly alone. Or perhaps you’re one of those people who lives for thrills like these. Either way, an extreme skydiving adventure might be just the activity you’ve been looking for. People like to throw around the phrase “pushing your boundaries”, but extreme skydiving actually delivers on this promise. Truly, no sport can give the same kind of adrenaline rush as jumping out of a plane into free fall at ten, thirteen, even as high as eighteen thousand feet above ground!

Now, not everyone is ready to jump, as it were, straight into this kind of extreme sport, save for the very most hardened thrill seekers among us. It takes more than a little bit of mental preparation (or a truly exceptional disposition) to be ready to jump out of a plane and plummet to Earth at speeds exceeding a hundred miles an hour. For instance, consider how far one falls in extreme skydiving. Say you jump out of the plane at thirteen thousand feet; typically one opens the parachute at about twenty five hundred feet and then gently drifts the rest of the way. This means there is a free fall of nearly two miles!
