The PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) for accessory storage, as well as the introduction of MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) equipment has opened the door to a great deal of innovation in pouches and bags for carrying military accessories. With the popularity of surplus military gear in the civilian market, the various and specialized options for carrying items varying from brick roads, to ammo loads, to MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) are available for whatever purpose can be imagined for them.

by Bow Hunter

If you can think back a very long time ago to the Paleolithic era that age when our great ancestors first learned that stones made handier tools than bare hands then you’ll understand how long archery has been around. Ancient Assyrians and Babyloians practiced archery as a sport and use bows heavily in warfare. Today, though, we have the know-how to select archery bows that work best for our modern needs.

The three basic types of bows that exist today are the traditional longbow, recurve bow and compound bow. In medieval combat, the longbow was the archers weapon of choice because it shoots straight and hard. In many cases, the actual bow is taller than the archer using it. Being able to take aim and shoot over long distances is an appealing feature of this bow with the only downfall being it is cumbersome and large. During hunting, the longbow has it’s advantages and drawbacks.

Fighting the Fight for Airsoft Guns!

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008
by Chris L. Martinelli

I can’t see a twelve-year-old child with an airsoft gun myself, however The Mother explained to her son Tom, “Your father might take responsibility for teaching you gun safety. Airsoft might be an activity that you and your father could do together.” She added, “It will be great if you and your father can go out the range and pay airsoft paintballs and you can learn abouty gun safety.”

What are those colored paint spots on our garage door? Could they be airsoft paint ball splatters for some neighbor hood child shooting at our house? I quickly learned that the airsoft 6mm paintballs are water soluable and they wash off with the hose and water.

Tips for Using Deer Stands

Thursday, July 31st, 2008
by Ethan O. Tanner

Most deer hunters are now hunting from tree stands. If you are new to deer hunting, or if you have been hunting for a while but have yet to use this method, you should consider using a tree stand. The benefits of using a tree stand are that you will stay out of the deer’s range of view, you will keep your scent hidden from the deer, and you will increase the range of your view. You do need to take certain precautions, however, to make sure that you protect yourself.

There are many types of stands and most are safe to use. Some of these include ladder-type stands, climbing stands, and lock-on stands. Another type of tree stand is boards simply nailed to a tree. No matter what type of stand you are using, recognize that accidents can happen. If a stand seems insecure to you, do not use it. If you are thinking about using a new tree stand and you are far from your home or from people in general, it is best to wait. You would be not able to notify anyone in the event that you were injured. Do not take using a tree stand lightly.
